Dishika Hira
Psychologist/ EMDR therapist
MSc, PgDipPsychPrac, PgDipSci, PgCertHSc, BSc
Born and raised in Auckland, Dishika Hira completed her tertiary education through The University of Auckland and Massey University. Since qualifying as a psychologist, she has worked across both the public and NGO sectors, supporting people experiencing a range of mental health and addiction challenges. Dishika believes that therapy is most effective when people feel heard, understood, and supported. She takes a warm, collaborative approach, working alongside clients to help them make sense of their experiences, build on their strengths, and move towards the life they want to live. Her clinical experience includes working with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, as well as alcohol and drug-related difficulties. Recognising that no two people are the same, Dishika tailors therapy to each individual's needs and goals. She integrates a range of evidence-based approaches into her practice, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Dishika is passionate about helping people create meaningful and lasting change. She strives to provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore challenges, develop new insights, and build confidence in their ability to move forward.
