Assessment and Medication from 2026
The way ADHD assessments and medication are done is changing in 2026. We encourage people to make informed decisions in an evolving field.
Please see information below. Correct as of July 2025.
What’s Changing – Adults
From February 2026, General Practitioners (GPs) and Nurse Practitioners will be able to diagnose and start medical treatment for adults with ADHD, following decisions by Medsafe and Pharmac.
Our Role as a Private Provider
Continue to deliver gold-standard, comprehensive diagnostic assessments and treatment options for ADHD, AuDHD, and ASD, including medication consultations, titration packages, neurodiversity-affirming talk therapy, and coaching.
We’re connecting with GPs and Nurse Practitioners to support them as they transition into this expanded role.
What You Can Do
Check with your GP or Nurse Practitioner: Ask whether they will be training to diagnose and prescribe ADHD medications from 1 February 2026. Not all GPs will be providing this service.
