At The Nelson Clinic, we provide a clear, supportive pathway for ADHD, Autism, and AuDHD assessment and care.

Our assessments are completed by experienced psychologists and nurse practitioners with specialist training in neurodiversity. When appropriate, ongoing support can include medication appointments with our psychiatry team, neurodiversity coaches, and talk therapy clinicians.

We offer comprehensive adult assessments to explore whether ADHD, Autism, or both may be contributing to a person’s experiences. The process looks beyond symptoms alone, focusing on how traits present across daily life, relationships, education, work, and wellbeing, while also considering other conditions that can appear similar.

Assessments include clinical interviews, structured questionnaires, psychological screening tools, and behavioural observations to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met.

As part of the assessment, we gather information relating to:

  • Developmental history

  • Educational history

  • Family history

Most assessments are currently completed online, with a limited number of face-to-face appointments available in Christchurch.
