Dr Huw Thomas is a Consultant psychiatrist based in Nelson. He has extensive clinical experience in the Public and Private sector in both the UK and New Zealand.

Huw obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK in 1991 and also completed a Master of Science in Psychiatry in 1992.  He has a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Adult Psychiatry, and has worked in a variety of services in the UK including secure (Forensic) hospitals and a highly specialised secure unit for adult offenders with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.  Before joining the Nelson clinic in 2021 he had worked in a Community Mental Health Team at Nelson & Marlborough DHB for the previous eight years.

Huw specialises in General Adult Psychiatry with a special interest in developmental disorders.
