Dr Neelke Elstins is a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Nelson. She has extensive experience in adult psychiatry, having worked in public mental health services in both the Netherlands and New Zealand.
Dr Elstins completed her specialist psychiatric training in the Netherlands and obtained her certification as a psychiatrist in 2018.
She has a particular interest in complex presentations, including trauma-related difficulties, personality disorders, cross-cultural mental health, treatment-resistant conditions, and the mental health needs of young adults.
Dr Elstins brings a psychodynamically informed and holistic approach to her work, with a strong emphasis on understanding each person's unique story, their strengths, and their capacity for growth and healing. She aims to create a safe, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic space, aiding people in slowly exploring themselves and their experiences.
