Claudia Manderson
Counsellor/Social Worker, Mediator/Conflict Coach
Hi, my name is Claudia.
I’m a registered social worker and offer you support as social worker, counsellor and mediator/conflict coach in the Motueka area.
I am passionate about guiding you to re-/connect with your inner power and wisdom to navigate through life’s challenges and live more attuned with your-self and in ease with those who matter to you.
I provide a safe non-judgmental space allowing you to be as you are and bring what you need to at the moment. A safe work environment is paramount foundation for our collaborative therapeutic relationship, hence I adhere to confidentiality and my professional codes of conducts and ethics.
I meet you, my client, with genuine respect, compassion and curiosity and feel honoured to be invited to walk alongside you for how long you feel it benefits your healing and transformation and growth. I bring awareness to your self, somatic, mental and behavioural expressions, as well as to your feelings, needs and values, your resources and strengths. Gained insights and experiences may enable you to feel your innate power and choice towards opportunities for transformation and healing, improving your overall well-being.
My approach is person centred, strength based, holistic and integrates the physical, emotional, social and spiritual realm. I work trauma and attachment informed and draw from a pool of modalities in order to support your individual present needs. I implement elements of Systems Theory, IFS, CBT, Mindful Somatic Approaches to Therapy, Non-Violent/ Compassionate Communication (NVC) and may include somatic practices, mindfulness, breath awareness, conscious movement and Nature Therapy using the healing resource of our natural environment. Therefore, I offer sessions indoors & outdoors.
My professional journey reflects my passion to walk alongside people’s paths when they need a bit of extra support e.g. as social worker, mediator/conflict coach, Kidpower instructor (10 years ago) or paediatric nurse (30 years ago). I am a fully registered social worker (SWRB), member of the professional body ANZASW, and an ACC and WINZ registered social worker. Over the last 20 years I worked with adults in mental health, parenting and relationship issues, as well as with teenagers and children dealing with anxiety, emotional regulation, self confidence. I facilitated conflict management/ resolution/mediation mainly between adults. As social worker I gained experiences in youth work, addiction/ mental health, family service and relational work.
Last, if you are curious, I share a bit about myself. I grew up in East- Germany. 23 years ago, I moved to New Zealand, the home of my kiwi-husband. Together we have 3 children, who all left their nest recently and enjoy spreading their wings far and wide. Our family shares an interest for different cultures, various adventures and the love for the outdoors, via tramping, cycling, paddling or as a lifestyle by gardening, creating and animal care. I’m very grateful to call the Top of the South our home-ground with its stunning natural environment, vast outdoor opportunities and its many beautiful people I am connecting with.
