Thomas Road Clinic - Now Open

Nicola Woodin

Clinical Psychology Masters; Psychology Honours; Bachelor of Social Science

I have been working as a Clinical Psychologist in the field of trauma for over 20 years.
My speciality is work with sexual abuse and gender-based violence, having found this passion working with a non-governmental organisation in Cape Town, South Africa.

I’ve worked in rural communities and urban institutions and hospitals in South Africa, Australia (Aboriginal communities) and now in Aotearoa. My clinical experience in all these settings has informed my approach today.

My therapy passions include Community Psychology, work with displaced people, and work with all forms of trauma and PTSD.
I also focus on supporting LGBTIQ+ community.

EMDR is my modaity of choice these past 12 years ! I also use use many modalities including more standard ACT and Mindfulness approaches. I appreciate trauma-specific Art Therapy approaches and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy tools – believing that trauma indeed is stored in the body and requires a holistic approach for healing. I enjoy working creatively and collaboratively with each individual.
