MA (Psychology), PG Dip in Psychological Practice, PG Cert in Health Science
Debbie is a Registered Psychologist and member of the New Zealand Psychologists Society with extensive experience in neurodevelopmental assessment, particularly ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She has completed comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments in private practice for over four years and brings a strong background in child, adolescent, and adult mental health.
Alongside her private practice work, Debbie is employed part‑time as a psychologist with the Ministry of Education. Her previous roles include clinical positions at Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children, and prior to psychology training she worked at the Otago and Canterbury District Health Boards, and the National Health Service (NHS) in London. These roles have provided her with broad experience across diverse communities and clinical presentations.
Debbie is passionate about supporting children, young people, and adults to enhance wellbeing, functioning, and quality of life. She takes a compassionate, collaborative, culturally and spiritually sensitive, and evidence‑based approach to practice. Her clinical work includes assessment and treatment for anxiety, depression, and general life challenges, as well as specialist ADHD assessment.
Her therapeutic practice is informed by evidence‑based models including EMDR, Solution‑Focused Therapy, Cognitive‑Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), alongside mindfulness‑based and relaxation‑based approaches. Her assessment work is guided by DSM‑5 diagnostic frameworks and best‑practice clinical standards.
Outside of work, Debbie enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking and tramping, biking, kayaking, horse riding, attending church, and quiet reading.
