Thomas Road Clinic - Now Open

Te Whare Pōra  Mauritau

Te Whare Pōra Mauritau is a trauma-informed healing wānanga that weaves together traditional Māori knowledge, raranga (weaving), and the restoration of mauri. Through hands-on cultural practices and guided reflection, participants are invited to reconnect with themselves, their strengths, and a sense of calm and belonging.

Open to people with ACC Sensitive Claims, this programme welcomes Māori and non-Māori, wāhine, tāne, and ira tangata. No previous weaving experience is required – only a willingness to participate and explore the healing potential of connection, creativity, and culture.

Drawing on the traditions of Te Whare Pōra, participants are supported to slow down, reconnect with their identity, strengthen their sense of self, and restore balance and wellbeing. The programme provides a safe and respectful space where healing can occur through doing, learning, sharing, and being alongside others.
